The truth is, we actually used to have 6 chicks... We chose to purchase 6 chicks because there is a 20% chance that when a baby chick is born, it won't survive. So, we purchased 6 chicks in case 1, 2 or 3 didn't make it. We got lucky, because all of our chicks thrived! (Including Sunny because we saved her!)
We already planned on giving at least 2 chicks away because our run and coop weren't big enough to fit all 6 chicks once they grew up. They would be too squished! So, since all 6 chicks survived, we gave 2 away to our friends (who already had 10 chickens!) Our temporary names for the 2 Wyandottes were Goldie and Penguin, but when our friends received them, they named them Aurelia and Karoo.
